Links MN State AAUW Membership in the Minneapolis branch includes membership in the state organization. The State board provides leadership and communication, linking all the branches within the state. Public policy issues and action items are shared with members throughout the state. An annual convention is held in the spring. American Association of University Women Membership in the Minneapolis branch includes membership in the national association, headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Association convention sets priorities and public policy direction for the organization. AAUW has two non-profit ways to support educational activities of women. The AAUW Educational Foundation is the largest source of funding in the world exclusively for graduate women. The AAUW Educational Foundation also supports groundbreaking research that has changed the way scholars, policy-makers, and the general public think about female educational needs and experiences. The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in the work place. The Gale Mansion The Minneapolis Branch owns, operates, and meets in the Gale Mansion. The members of the Minneapolis Branch AAUW purchased the house at 2115 Stevens Avenue in 1947 from Richard Gale. In 1978 the Gale Mansion was designated on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it serves as the headquarters for all activities of the Minneapolis branch. Both impressive and charming, the Gale Mansion blends old-world elegance with modern style, forming a unique and memorable setting for private or corporate entertaining.
